Job Summary:

The Area Sales Manager leads a small team of sales professionals, focusing on coaching them to sell at all management levels and build strong relationships. Key skills include customer-centric selling, problem-solving, and maintaining energy and professionalism. The role requires independent performance and effective interaction at the managerial level, with up to 75% travel.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • The purpose of the Sales Function is to deliver:
  • Drive profitable revenue growth and new business development.
  • Achieve gross margin targets.
  • Utilize customer-centric selling skills and CRM tools effectively.
  • Ensure year-over-year growth in Operating Income and Sales. Must have a proven track record of growing a business.
  • Foster a motivated and engaged sales team.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports.
  • Build productive relationships with key customers, suppliers, and internal contacts.
  • Manage P&L, working capital, and profitability.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term sales forecasts and business plans.
  • Conduct market share analysis and recommend strategies to increase market share.
  • Stay updated on technology changes, material development, and market conditions.
  • Participate in the Commercial Leadership team and cross-territory projects.
Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Plastics or Polymer Engineering, Business, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 10+ years in distribution, manufacturing, sales, or account management.
  • 7+ years in strategic planning and managing others and budgets.

Physical/Environmental Demands
  • Requires remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time, and frequent communication.
  • Must be able to traverse and operate computer and other office equipment.
  • Typical work is in an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate.
  • Position may require up to 75% travel.
