Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Sales Account Manager (SAM) who thrives in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. This is not a traditional sales role-it's about making things happen. The SAM manages existing customer accounts, ensuring on-time delivery, resolving issues, and identifying growth opportunities aligned with our production capabilities. You will serve as the critical link between our customers and operations team-from order entry through final delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Order Management
- Process Sales Orders and Work Orders accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with scheduling and production teams to confirm and adjust delivery commitments.
- Track order status and proactively resolve any delays to ensure on-time delivery.
Customer Communication & Support
- Serve as the main point of contact for customers regarding order status and delivery updates.
- Expedites critical parts if production is delayed-visiting the shop floor or plant areas to gather real-time updates.
- Support customer needs such as custom packaging, shipping preparation, or special handling.
Issue Resolution
- Represent the voice of the customer internally to raise and resolve production issues.
- Deliver honest and timely updates to customers during delays or challenges.
Customer Growth & Engagement
- Conduct quarterly customer visits to build strong relationships and uncover growth opportunities.
- Prepare post-visit reports summarizing key insights, risks, and follow-up actions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to respond to RFQs and new business leads.
Production Capacity Alignment
- Review machine capacity reports to identify underutilized areas.
- Work with planning and production teams to fill capacity with customer work or new business.
- Target strategic product lines or accounts that align with available capacity.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial account management/sales support.
- Strong knowledge of order entry, production scheduling, and manufacturing processes.
- Comfortable working on the shop floor-must be willing to walk the plant daily for real-time updates.
- Proficient in ERP systems (Sage 500 is a plus), Microsoft Teams, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
