SAFETY SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for ensuring that sites are safe and compliant with all relevant safety regulations. The Safety Specialist works closely with the construction project teams, including contractors, subcontractors and project managers, to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards and risks.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducting regular safety inspections of construction sites to identify potential hazards and risks, to involve inspecting equipment, materials, tools and work areas for potential safety hazards
- Developing and implementing safety policies and procedures to ensure that all work is preformed safely and in compliance with applicable safety regulations. This may involve developing safety manuals, training materials and safety plans
- Coordinating safety training programs for construction workers to ensure that they have the necessary knowledge and skills to work safely on the construction site. This may involve developing training sessions, developing training materials, and providing ongoing safety education and support to workers
- Providing guidance and support to project reams on safety-related matters, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety planning. This may involve working closely with contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure that safety procedures are properly implemented and followed
- Investigating accidents and incidents on construction sites and developing corrective action plans to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. This may involve conducting accident investigations, analyzing data, and making recommendations for improvement
- Reviewing and approving safety plans and procedures developed by contractors and subcontractors. This may involve reviewing construction plans, specifications and other documents to ensure that they comply with applicable safety regulations.
- Communicating regularly with project stakeholders, including owners, architects, engineers, and inspectors, to ensure that all parties are informed of safety-related issues and concerns, to include preparing reports, conducting meetings, and providing updates on safety performance
- Staying up to date on relevant safety regulations and industry best practices, and ensuring that construction sites are compliant with all applicable regulations. This may involve monitoring regulatory updates, attending industry conferences and events, and conducting research on emerging safety trends and technologies
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Relevant training and certification in safety regulations and standards - required
- Knowledge of construction processes, equipment, and materials to effectively assess safety risks - required
- Knowledge of safety regulations and standards: deep understanding of safety regulations and standards in the construction industry, must be familiar with OSHA regulations and other relevant regulations and standards
- Attention to Detail: excellent attention to detail to identify potential safety hazards and risks on construction sites, ability to conduct thorough inspections and audits to ensure that all safety measures are in place
- Communication Skills: efficient communicator to work with project teams, contractors, subcontractors and other stakeholders, ability to convey safety policies and procedures in a clear and concise manner
- Analytical Skills: strong analytical skills to evaluate safety data, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement
- Problem-solving Skills: ability to quickly identify and solve safety problems on construction sites. They should be able to develop effective solutions to mitigate safety risks and hazards
- Knowledge of construction processes, equipment, and materials to effectively assess safety risks
