Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance at its Glens Falls, New York facility. This high-impact role is critical in fostering a proactive safety culture while serving as a development pipeline to a director-level EHS position. The ideal candidate is a passionate safety leader with a background in manufacturing who thrives on collaboration, education and long-term cultural change.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership
• Develop and implement safety programs to ensure full compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies
• Lead safety committees and serve as the primary driver of plant-wide safety initiatives
• Conduct comprehensive accident investigations, root cause analyses and corrective action planning
• Manage safety audits, inspections and compliance-tracking metrics
• Act as the site lead during emergency responses and safety-related incidents
Culture & Engagement
• Partner with employees and leadership teams to foster a strong safety-first mindset
• Drive employee engagement through continuous safety education and awareness initiatives
• Promote behavioral safety programs and encourage proactive safety reporting
Leadership Development
• Mentor frontline leaders and team members on safety practices and responsibilities
• Champion a safety-first culture through clear communication and visibility across operations
• Support internal career growth by training future safety champions within the organization
Compliance & Reporting
• Maintain records and documentation to support OSHA and internal compliance standards
• Oversee required safety certifications and training for employees and contractors
• Manage relationships with regulatory agencies and serve as the facility's safety liaison
Qualifications & Ideal Candidate
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety, safety management or equivalent work experience
• Minimum five years of experience in safety leadership roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment; paper industry experience preferred
Certifications
• OSHA 500/501 preferred
• First Aid / CPR certified
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is a strong plus

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
