Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Manager to lead and manage the health and safety initiatives across our commercial construction sites. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and reducing risk to people, property, and productivity. The ideal candidate is hands-on, communicative, and passionate about building a safe work environment from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee the company's safety program for all commercial construction job sites.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, local safety codes, and internal policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, or non-compliance.
- Partner with superintendents and project managers to ensure safety is integrated into daily operations.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Facilitate safety training and toolbox talks for all field staff and subcontractors.
- Maintain and update safety records, including inspection reports, training logs, and incident reports.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related matters with clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
- Stay current on industry trends, new regulations, and best practices in construction safety.
- Promote a culture of safety by modeling safe behaviors and encouraging accountability at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
- 5+ years of safety experience in commercial construction or general contracting.
- OSHA 30 Certification required; CHST, CSP, or other safety certifications a plus.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state construction safety regulations.
- Ability to identify hazards and implement practical, effective solutions in real-time.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with safety reporting tools, Microsoft Office, and incident tracking systems.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Regular presence on active construction sites (outdoors, at heights, in varying weather conditions).
- Must be able to walk, stand, climb, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required on-site.
