The Safety Assistant will be working on-site out of our office in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
Job Summary:
The Safety Assistant supports the safety department in promoting and ensuring a safe working environment for all employees. This role involves assisting with safety training, conducting safety audits, maintaining safety records, and helping to implement safety programs and policies.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Safety Training and Orientation:
- Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs for new hires and existing employees.
- Help conduct safety orientations for new employees to ensure they understand company safety policies and procedures.
2. Safety Inspections and Audits:
- Participate in regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards.
- Document findings and assist in developing action plans to address any safety issues.
3. Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, including incident reports, safety training attendance, and inspection results.
- Assist in preparing safety reports and documentation for management review.
4. Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay informed about relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
- Assist in ensuring the company's compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies' guidelines.
5. Incident Investigation:
- Support the investigation of workplace accidents and incidents to determine causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in compiling reports on incidents and near-misses.
6. Safety Program Implementation:
- Help implement and promote safety programs and initiatives aimed at reducing workplace hazards and improving safety culture.
- Assist in organizing safety meetings and workshops.
7. Communication:
- Act as a point of contact for employees regarding safety concerns or questions.
- Foster open communication regarding safety issues and encourage employee involvement in safety initiatives.
Education/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in safety management or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in a safety-related role is a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and walking as needed during safety inspections and training sessions.
