Vaco has partnered with a market leading client to find a strong programmer who can support their legacy RPG/iSeries environment. We are looking for someone with expertise in both iSeries V7R4 and V7R5 environments who will be responsible for developing, configuring, coding, testing, and debugging complex new software, enhancements to existing proprietary software or purchased software packages. This role will require the strong ability to multi-task between production issues and new work in flight in additional to supporting functional users and IT Business Systems team. You will be tasked with assisting in the design and documentation of our clients application software environment and regularly providing guidance and training to less experienced programmer/analysts. This environment is highly complex and we are looking for someone with a strong knowledgebase within RPG.
Core Experience: - Extensive experience providing steady state support for RPG applications on IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems.
- In-depth knowledge of iSeries operating environments, specifically V7R4 and V7R5, with a focus on system stability and operational continuity.
- Skilled in maintaining and enhancing legacy RPG III/IV and Free Format RPG code to meet evolving business needs.
- Proficient in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving issues in production environments with minimal downtime.
- Strong understanding of CL programs, job scheduling, and batch processing on the IBM i platform.
- Experience working with DB2/400 databases, including data integrity checks, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Effective collaboration with operations, end users, and cross-functional teams to support critical business applications running on iSeries.
- Previous engagement working with offshore team is a plus
