Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior RPG Developer with extensive experience in IBMi (AS/400) systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of RPG, CL, and DB2/400, and will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications on the IBMi platform. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Application Development and Maintenance:
Design, develop, and maintain RPG-based applications on the IBMi platform. Ensure that code is efficient, scalable, and adheres to best practices.
• System Configuration and Performance Monitoring:
Configure IBMi systems and monitor their performance to ensure optimal operation. Troubleshoot and resolve system issues as they arise.
• Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with business analysts, project managers, and other IT professionals to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure successful project delivery. Communicate technical concepts and project progress effectively to stakeholders.
• Documentation:
Document legacy code and new developments thoroughly to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer. Create and maintain technical documentation for all projects.
• Production Support:
Provide production support by diagnosing and resolving complex software defects and system anomalies. Work with team members to resolve issues and provide detailed diagnostic information.
Desired Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong proficiency in RPG, RPGLE, CL, CLLE, and DB2/400.
• Experience with IBMi system configuration, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Web Services, SQL, and other related technologies on IBMi.
• Familiarity with modern development tools and methodologies, including DevOps, Git, and VS Code.
• Experience with ASNA Visual RPG, C , .NET, and SSIS Package is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in RPG development on the IBMi platform.
