Currently recruiting for an experienced ROV Tooling Mechanical Design Engineer for a Subsea company based in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.
The ROV Tooling Mechanical Design Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Designing specialist tooling to support projects, leading development of solutions, designing layouts, working with the drawing office, checking all drawings and BOM, and overseeing procurement, fabrication, and testing.
- Specifying specialist ROV tooling from third parties as required.
- Creating operation and maintenance manuals for in-house new build tooling.
- Maintaining awareness of current requirements and the latest industry codes and standards.
- Occasionally working offsite or offshore as required.
- Reviewing the project installation procedures to ensure practicality from an ROV operations point of view.
- Determining ROV tooling requirements to support all ROV operations.
- Assisting Commercial Departments during bid preparation from an ROV tooling and interfaces point of view.
Experience/Qualifications:
- A degree qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline would be preferred.
- Current/valid offshore certification would be preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar ROV Tooling Mechanical Design Engineer type role is essential.
- Experience in the theory, design and operation of tooling systems is essential.
- Hydraulics knowledge relating to the design of suitable control circuits for any required ROV tooling is essential.
- Applicants should have strong knowledge of offshore operations, in particular subsea construction and remote intervention.
- Applicants should have experience with various engineering software, such as Mathcad and AutoCAD (2D or 3D).
- Applicants should be familiar with current industry standards, such as ISO and API-17H.
