Route Supervisor - Delivery Drivers

Local wholesale distribution and transportation company is seeking a safety minded, detail oriented, organized, and professional individual to join their transportation department as a Route Supervisor overseeing thirty-five+ Local Drivers and their Delivery Routes.
Summary: As a Route Supervisor, you will oversee and coordinate the efficient delivery operations, ensuring timely and accurate transportation of products. You will lead a team of local drivers to execute routes effectively. Your premium skills in customer service, routing experience, and commercial driving will enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Your supervisory experience, time management abilities, and knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations will be instrumental in ensuring safe and compliant operations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be highly motivated, dependable and able to perform each essential duty in a fast-paced, always changing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Logically review all delivery routes and stops consistently - via driver ride a longs and electronic mapping systems to confirms safety and efficiency
- Communicate with Safety Director on all accidents involving delivery drivers and review prevention methods with involved parties
- Responsible for yard checks to confirm rental usage during office days
- Ride with and review new drivers prior to being released to drive independently
- Field customer calls daily on delivery times and/ or any questions or product concerns
- Oversee after hour calls on breakdowns and assist as needed
- Liaison between leasing companies and the companys transportation department and drivers
- Perform road tests for any potential new hires
- Assist yard jockey and deliver equipment to repair locations as needed
- Replacement Delivery Driver in the absences of too many drivers (as needed)
- Perform any additional responsibilities and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Current Commercial Driver License (CDL) / Class A must be maintained and remain in good standing
- Clear understanding of all OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations
- Experienced with driver / transportation dept supervision, route planning, and DOT compliance
- Demonstrated knowledge/comfort in logistics technology, equipment, and general computer applications
- Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of new computer systems, delivery routes, DOT & companys regulations and policies
- Professional communications; verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Schedule / Benefit Overview:
- Salary position based on related experience level plus
- Hours: 7:00am- 4:00pm Monday-Friday and every other Saturday 8am-Noon
- On-Call coverage as needed -
