Job Title:Rotating Equipment Manager

Job Description Details:

Directly supervises front-line staff members in the Mechanical Shop. Responsible for mechanical maintenance activities scheduled or arising throughout Campus With a focus on Rotating Equipment (ie., fans, pumps, etc. ). Assists Senior Manager with the overall operation of the Mechanical Shop. Works with Senior Manager to provide scheduling and supervision. Responsible for customer service and other facilities management support functions. Works with others to plan preventive maintenance and corrective action

schedules. Instructs staff, and participates in evaluating building systems for correct operation, monitoring the purchasing of materials, supplies, tools, billables, metrics etc. Responds to facility problems that arise and preventative maintenance in buildings. Provides estimates for billable work performed by mechanical

maintenance staff. Ensures that environmental sustainability initiatives are integrated into all facilities operations. Serves as the direct supervisor of maintenance staff performing mechanical work; provides staff training, develops daily work schedules and forecasts maintenance needs; conducts performance reviews, corrective action and absentee coordination. Coordinates and directs contractors and university personnel in coordination with other operations leadership. May provide coverage for OPSMEP leadership when short-term staffing needs dictate. Adheres to all safety practices and procedures; maintains work areas and equipment; attends meetings; assures properly completed documentation; provides a high level of customer service; communicates to customers, coworkers and supervision via written, electronic and verbal methods and devices; performs other duties as assigned. This position works primarily first shift Monday - Friday, but is subject to changes in shift, hours, days, and/or location as operations dictate; subject to 24-hour emergency call-in; will require on-call rotation as appropriate. In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17, this position has been designated as essential. Will require the successful completion of a criminal background check and a valid driver license.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 3 years of relevant experience required.


Desired Qualifications

4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.

Minimum Education Required Per Classified Civil Svc Specs or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Education Desired 2-Year College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications Associate's level degree or equivalent education/experience. Ability to read and write common sentences and to calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages. Five years of relevant experience in building maintenance operations, including direct customer contact (preferably in unionized

setting). Proven teaming, leadership and customer service skills and experience. 3 months or 3 courses in management/supervision (one year is strongly desired). 9 months experience or 900 hours training in more than one skilled trades (i.e., plumbing, Steam & Condensate, Millwright, Machinist, welding, HVAC, maintenance mechanic is strongly preferred) and related safety. Desired: Experience with CMS and Microsoft Office; At least one year of supervision.

Additional Information:

The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $36.01 - $47.36 per hour
