Join our robot software engineering team for a 3-month internship, where you'll contribute directly to the core systems powering our autonomous robots. You'll gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, high-energy Silicon Valley startup, collaborating on a wide range of robotics challenges mainly from navigation but also perception, hardware integration and cloud connectivity. The role involves deep work within the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework.


This paid internship is designed to equip you with real-world experience and prepare you for a career in robotics. By the end of the program, you'll be ready to hit the ground running as a full-time software engineer at any company building on ROS.


Responsibilities

  • Deploying, installing and testing the robots on-site with the help of other members.
  • Improving autonomy, navigation, perception, and cloud connectivity.
  • Testing and integrating new hardware components including new sensors that will go into the next generation.

Qualifications

  • Currently in university for MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field - candidates closer to graduation are given preference.
  • Adept in C programming, data structures, database etc
  • Candidates with existing code portfolios, personal coding projects outside of school, past internship experience, and/or outstanding academic performance tend to be given preference.
  • Great understanding of the Robot Operating System (ROS) and core concepts such as nodes, messages, topics, services, parameters, build system, etc.
  • Strong experience working with SLAM and/or RTK and solving complex navigation challenges

Relocation

  • This internship involves travel to on-site field locations for deployment and testing (all expenses covered).
  • The position is based at our headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area, and relocation is recommended for the duration of the internship.
  • Start date and end date are flexible as long as candidates are able to commit to a minimum of 3 contiguous months.
