About the Role:

We are searching for a talented, passionate, and driven engineer to keep our high-tech laboratory always up and running. You will be responsible for maintaining, operating, and improving a variety of equipment including high-end analytical instrumentation, custom robotic systems, robotic liquid handlers, and other laboratory equipment. This is a multi-disciplinary role that will involve working alongside members of the laboratory, robotics team, and facilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to instrumentation and robotic systems, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
  • Program various robotic systems and write scripts to automate tasks in the laboratory.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to address equipment performance concerns and implement solutions.
  • Work closely with R&D, robotics engineering, and operations teams to integrate robots and instrumentation into production workflow.
  • Debug, improve, and/or redesign existing robotic systems as well as perform hardware or software fixes as necessary.
  • Assist in the specification, installation, and commissioning of instruments, ensuring they meet process requirements and operational standards.
  • Operate and maintain various robotic systems in the laboratory as well as troubleshoot and maintain specialized analytical instrumentation such as Mass Spectrometers, HPLC, Thermal Cyclers, Sequencers, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and robotic systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and optimal performance.
  • Maintain records of calibration and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Support cross-functional projects to ensure successful execution and seamless system integration.

Qualifications:

  • BS, MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Able to multi-task and be on top of several priorities.
  • Troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience handling biotech instrumentation or related industry is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on fabrication or machine-shop experience with tools such as CNC mill, CNC lathe/router, 3D printer, laser-cutting machines.
