Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital

At Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital, the RN administers patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, a medical condition, or post-intervention with assessment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  1. Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses. Evaluates the patient's progress toward expected outcomes.
  2. Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
  3. Functions as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  5. Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
  6. Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department.
  7. Serves as a role model for staff and supports hospital and nursing department goals and strategies.
  8. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles, assesses patient data, and interprets information to identify patient-specific needs.
  9. Coordinates care and delegates tasks appropriately to other team members.
  10. Documents patient care accurately, including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety, meeting all standards.
  11. Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of patient care equipment.
  12. Prioritizes patient care according to Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
  13. Practices effective problem identification and resolution.
  14. Delegates tasks based on patient needs and team member capabilities.
  15. Communicates patient condition or unit concerns effectively to team members.
  16. Provides a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  17. Maintains awareness of legal issues and patients' rights.
  18. Collaborates with education and leadership to support new team members and students.
  19. Maintains regular, punctual attendance per policies and standards.
  20. Ensures compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meets all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for certain areas; NRP for NICU.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-year experience required unless approved by AVP or higher.
