Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital

The RN administers patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, illness, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  1. Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care based on patient responses. Evaluates patient progress toward expected outcomes.
  2. Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
  3. Acts as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department.
  5. Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
  6. Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department.
  7. Serves as a role model for staff and supports the hospital and nursing department's goals and strategies.
  8. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles, assesses patient data, and interprets information to meet age-specific needs.
  9. Coordinates patient care and delegates tasks appropriately to team members.
  10. Documents patient care accurately and consistently, meeting all regulatory standards, including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety.
  11. Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of equipment specific to the unit/department.
  12. Prioritizes patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
  13. Practices effective problem-solving and resolution.
  14. Delegates tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
  15. Communicates patient condition and unit concerns effectively to the healthcare team.
  16. Provides compassionate and therapeutic care environments for patients and families.
  17. Maintains awareness of legal issues and patients' rights.
  18. Collaborates with education and leadership to support new team members and students.
  19. Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and standards.
  20. Ensures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education/Training: Graduate of an approved nursing school. Meets all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.

Licensure/Certification: Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for certain areas; NRP for NICU. One year of experience required unless approved by AVP or above.
