Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital
The RN administers patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, illness, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care based on patient responses. Evaluates patient progress toward expected outcomes.
- Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
- Acts as a patient and family advocate.
- Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department.
- Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
- Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department.
- Serves as a role model for staff and supports the hospital and nursing department's goals and strategies.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles, assesses patient data, and interprets information to meet age-specific needs.
- Coordinates patient care and delegates tasks appropriately to team members.
- Documents patient care accurately and consistently, meeting all regulatory standards, including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety.
- Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of equipment specific to the unit/department.
- Prioritizes patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
- Practices effective problem-solving and resolution.
- Delegates tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
- Communicates patient condition and unit concerns effectively to the healthcare team.
- Provides compassionate and therapeutic care environments for patients and families.
- Maintains awareness of legal issues and patients' rights.
- Collaborates with education and leadership to support new team members and students.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and standards.
- Ensures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training: Graduate of an approved nursing school. Meets all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.
Licensure/Certification: Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for certain areas; NRP for NICU. One year of experience required unless approved by AVP or above.
