Job Description: The Professional Development Specialist/Clinical Nurse Specialist reports to the Manager, Clinical Education. This key leadership position has responsibilities with both clinical professional development activities as well as activities to promote and enhance quality patient outcomes. This role intertwines responsibilities for process improvement, patient outcomes, clinical education, program management, and leadership, staff coaching/mentoring and nursing research/evidence-based practice in an integrated, cross campus delivery.



Education:

  • Master Degree in Nursing through an Accredited Educational Institution - Required


Experience:

  • 3 years Nursing - Registered Nurse in Acute Care setting or Behavioral Health - Required

  • Preferred candidates will have a nursing background with the Med/Surg and or Neuro/Trauma ICU setting.

  • Experience in Education/Training - Education - Required

  • Experience with quality metrics and action planning - Preferred


Certifications/Licensures:

  • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required

  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required

  • Nursing Professional Development Certification or in specialty area of practice - Preferred

  • Additional certifications may be required dependent on setting and service line supporting, such as ACLS, NRP, PALS, STABLE, etc.


Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of performance improvement theory and strategies.



This Professional Development Specialist position supports the Intensive Care Units at the Walnut Creek Campus encompassing 48 beds across three specialized areas, each providing advanced, adult critical care. The Medical-Surgical ICU focuses on patients with diverse critical conditions such as shock, myocardial infarction, severe respiratory distress, and post-surgical needs. The Trauma ICU manages patients with traumatic injuries (e.g., MVAs, TBIs, spinal and orthopedic trauma), while the Neuro ICU specializes in complex neurological conditions like stroke, hemorrhages, neurosurgical cases, and elevated ICP management.



Work Shift: 08.0 - 08:00 - 17:00 No Waive (United States of America)



Pay Range:

$82.75 - $124.11 Hourly
Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure. Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area .
Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word 'exempt' on it.
