Baptist Health Princeton Hospital
Administers patient care in an inpatient setting where patients have an advanced illness or injury requiring timely, intense, and complex care to stabilize and support their medical condition. These areas require a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio and highly trained team members with advanced skills.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring complex assessment, therapies, high-intensity interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.
- Utilizes assessment data to anticipate and respond confidently, adapting to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Identifies and prioritizes information to take immediate, evidence-based, patient-focused actions.
- Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment, interprets electronic displays such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms.
- Responds to life-saving situations per nursing standards and protocols.
- Observes, monitors, and assesses patient conditions, recognizing serious situations, and taking appropriate actions or calling physicians as needed.
- Develops and revises individualized care plans based on patient needs and responses, evaluating progress towards expected outcomes.
- Respects diversity and builds respectful relationships with team members and patients.
- Acts as a patient and family advocate.
- Provides age-appropriate care, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills.
- Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician as needed.
- Collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective care planning and management.
- Supports hospital and nursing department goals, serving as a role model.
- Demonstrates understanding of growth and development principles, assessing patient data to meet age-specific needs.
- Coordinates and delegates care appropriately among team members.
- Documents patient care accurately, meeting all standards, including assessments, education, medications, treatments, and safety measures.
- Maintains competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
- Prioritizes patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
- Practices effective problem-solving and resolution.
- Delegates tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
- Communicates effectively regarding patient status and unit concerns.
- Provides compassionate, therapeutic care environments for patients and families.
- Maintains awareness of legal issues and patients' rights.
- Collaborates with education and leadership teams to support new staff and students.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance per policies and standards.
- Ensures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training:
- Graduate of an approved nursing school.
- Meets all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate license.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for certain areas; NRP specifically for NICU.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience required unless approved by AVP or higher.
