At Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital, the RN PACU administers patient care in an area where patients come for treatment and typically return home the same day, or care takes place in a post-acute transitional care setting.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Utilizes the knowledge, skills, and competencies required in ambulatory care nursing to promote wellness, restore health, address health-related issues, and support end-of-life care.
- Assesses patients' needs and develops individualized care plans based on current evidence-based nursing practices.
- Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan.
- Interprets patient data to identify individual requirements relative to age-specific needs.
- Prescribes, delegates, coordinates, and documents patient care, including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety measures.
- Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as per unit-specific requirements.
- Prioritizes patient care in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
- Identifies and resolves problems effectively.
- Delegates tasks to healthcare team members based on patient needs and team members' capabilities.
- Communicates patient condition and unit concerns to team members appropriately.
- Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients and their families.
- Incorporates patient and family education throughout care delivery.
- Participates in process improvement activities as assigned.
- Maintains awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance in line with hospital policies and applicable laws.
- Follows all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved nursing school.
- Meets all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific department.
Licensure/Certification
- Current RN license in Alabama or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for specific areas.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required unless approved by AVP or higher.
