The Medicare registered nurse (RN) performs under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing and is delegated an assignment by the Director of Nursing to achieve quality care for all Medicare Residents. The RN shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in collaboration with the Director of Nursing as evidenced by documentation in Resident's Care Record, direct observation, and Resident assessment. The RN shall have the ability to appropriately read and comprehend data collected which reflects the Resident's status and interprets the data needed to identify each Resident's level of need and care. RN arranges transportation for Medicare residents' appointments on a regular basis. RN draws all monthly and routine lab work. Performs other job duties as needed.
Performance Expectations
- Assessment of new admissions for Part A eligibility.
- Complete all Part A admissions.
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly Medicare Assessments and documentation.
- Responsible for all Part A residents' Care Plans.
- Perform discharge planning for Part A residents.
- Track infections and give prescribed medications as needed of all Part A residents.
- Ensures that dignity and privacy are maintained at all times in all aspects of care.
- Preform lab draws on Part A residents as needed
- Ensuring lab/diagnostic results are applied to chart Monthly and as needed.
- Understands policy and procedures and ensures that these are followed in all aspects of resident care.
- Billing for Part A residents stay and accuracy of supporting documentation for reimbursement.
- Responsible for Certification and Re-certification of all Medicare residents.
- Responsible for sending and tracking all ABN (Beneficiary Notices) for Part A Residents.
- Member of the month audit Triple Check Team.
- Member of the Care Plan team.
- Member of QAPI
- Member of the Medicare Admission Team.
- Proactive approach in working with doctors and other nurses to ensure residents' needs and expectations are met.
- Preforming wound care in conjunction with the wound care nurse and attending physician on all Part A residents.
- Administering IV medications as needed to all Part A residents
Education: Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program.
Work Experience: One year of long-term care nursing preferred.
License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a RN in Mississippi.
