Responsible for monitoring the onboarding/orientation process and implementing changes. Conducts and facilitates classroom and on the job training to synthesize knowledge, increase skill development, and promote interpersonal growth. Works closely with preceptors and unit leadership. Completes and evaluates benchmark data for each orientee. Aids in the planning and execution of program events. Provides a high level of support to staff hired through the program to support strong retention and engagement. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in in Nursing (BSN) CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License Illinois upon hire, National Nursing Certificate upon hire, BLS within 30 days of hire EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT Three (3) years of medical surgical, intensive care or specialty nursing experience in an acute care setting and instructional teaching experience, both informal and informal. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills are required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Attend and lead meaningful recruitment speaking engagements including but not limited to Nursing Job Fairs, College Nursing Courses, Student and/or community activities. Complete all staff scheduling and ensure the candidates are ready for their start date. Provide oversight for hospital Nurse Residency and the HCT in Training Program, scheduling, and program communications. Support RNs and HCTs through rounding on the floor and individual coaching sessions. Assist the inpatient supervisor in finding an appropriate permanent unit placement. Assist staff that are in Action Plans as needed. Collaborate with the preceptor and mentor program planning to ensure alignment of the new hire educational and integration experience. Oversees the orientation and training of individuals who operationalize individualized components of the overall Nurse Residency and HCT in Training Program. Ensures the staff learning needs are met. Acts as a positive role model and resource for staff. Develops, implements and evaluates evidenced based standards of practice and care. Aligns curriculum to meet all regulatory requirements and ensures that any required documentation is obtained. Accepts responsibility for maintaining and developing own skill and knowledge in the clinical area by participating on assigned/selected committees. Provides feedback to nursing leaders and preceptors regarding the Nurse Residents and HCT's experiences and how to improve in the future. Monitors and completes competency modules. Facilitates classroom instruction. Support staff during dayshift and night shift hours. Ensures that Nurse Residency Program aligns with ANCC Magnet criteria and that all standards are met and/or exceeded. Assist in program data collection and outcomes tracking as appropriate. Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents, and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
