Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital

At Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital, the RN administers patient care in hospital or inpatient/observation settings where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, illness, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized care plan based on patient responses. Evaluates patient progress toward expected outcomes.
  2. Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  3. Acts as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served, demonstrating relevant knowledge and skills.
  5. Serves as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician.
  6. Communicates and collaborates effectively with medical staff and interdisciplinary team.
  7. Models professional behavior and supports hospital and nursing goals.
  8. Applies knowledge of growth and development principles, assesses patient data, and interprets information to meet age-specific needs.
  9. Coordinates care and delegates tasks appropriately within the team.
  10. Documents patient care accurately, including assessment, education, medication, treatments, and safety measures, meeting all standards.
  11. Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and equipment use specific to the unit.
  12. Prioritizes patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  13. Practices effective problem-solving and resolution.
  14. Delegates tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
  15. Communicates patient condition and unit concerns to team members.
  16. Provides compassionate, therapeutic care environment.
  17. Maintains awareness of legal issues and patient rights.
  18. Collaborates with education and leadership to support new staff and students.
  19. Maintains regular, punctual attendance per hospital policies and applicable laws.
  20. Ensures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Graduate of an approved nursing school.
  • Meets all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas; NRP specifically for NICU.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required unless approved by AVP or higher.
