At Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital, the RN administers patient care in hospital or inpatient/observation settings where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, illness, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized care plan based on patient responses. Evaluates patient progress toward expected outcomes.
- Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
- Acts as a patient and family advocate.
- Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served, demonstrating relevant knowledge and skills.
- Serves as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician.
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with medical staff and interdisciplinary team.
- Models professional behavior and supports hospital and nursing goals.
- Applies knowledge of growth and development principles, assesses patient data, and interprets information to meet age-specific needs.
- Coordinates care and delegates tasks appropriately within the team.
- Documents patient care accurately, including assessment, education, medication, treatments, and safety measures, meeting all standards.
- Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and equipment use specific to the unit.
- Prioritizes patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
- Practices effective problem-solving and resolution.
- Delegates tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
- Communicates patient condition and unit concerns to team members.
- Provides compassionate, therapeutic care environment.
- Maintains awareness of legal issues and patient rights.
- Collaborates with education and leadership to support new staff and students.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance per hospital policies and applicable laws.
- Ensures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved nursing school.
- Meets all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit.
Licensure/Certification
- Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas; NRP specifically for NICU.
Experience
Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required unless approved by AVP or higher.
