The Palliative Care unit is an adult inpatient medical-surgical unit with 10 private rooms focused on providing care for individuals with serious illnesses. The nursing team, consisting of Registered Nurses and Nursing Assistants, is trained to address patients' physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and bereavement needs.
Registered Nurses are responsible for delivering high-quality care, demonstrating empathy, and collaborating with the healthcare team to create individualized care plans. Key duties include:
Conducting age-specific assessments and developing care plans. Collaborating with the healthcare team and revising care plans as needed. Administering treatments and medications accurately. Requirements include a nursing degree, Virginia RN licensure, CPR certification, and computer skills for electronic medical records.
