Position Summary

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital

Administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting where acute care patients receive active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans based on patient responses, evaluating progress towards expected outcomes.
  2. Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  3. Act as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
  5. Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician.
  6. Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to plan and manage patient care.
  7. Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
  8. Apply principles of growth and development, assessing patient data to identify needs based on age-specific requirements.
  9. Coordinate and delegate care tasks appropriately within the team.
  10. Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety measures.
  11. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
  12. Prioritize patient care based on evidence-based standards.
  13. Identify and resolve problems effectively.
  14. Delegate tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
  15. Communicate patient conditions and concerns clearly to the team.
  16. Provide compassionate, therapeutic care environment.
  17. Maintain awareness of legal issues and patient rights.
  18. Support new staff and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
  19. Maintain regular attendance per policies and legal standards.
  20. Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

  1. Contribute to team knowledge, skills, and quality improvement initiatives.
  2. Participate or lead in nursing practice and performance improvement committees.
  3. Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching.
  4. Use supplies efficiently and keep work area safe and organized.
  5. Attend staff development, meetings, and committees.
  6. Identify professional development needs and pursue ongoing education.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
  8. Provide patient care within the virtual hospital setting, assessing needs via TeleHealth technology, and developing care plans accordingly.
  9. Conduct virtual visits, assess symptoms, and escalate care as needed.
  10. Collaborate with in-home clinical/support staff to support patient needs.
  11. Address age-specific patient needs and urgent/emergent situations.
  12. Work autonomously and productively in the hospital-at-home environment.
  13. Use in-home virtual technology for patient assessments and care delivery.
  14. Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications as requested, excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs.
Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Graduate of an approved nursing school.
  • Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and specific department.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain units; NRP for NICU.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for home care duties.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year nursing experience unless approved otherwise.
  • At least 2 years of acute care nursing experience for Hospital Care at Home roles.
