Position Summary

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital

Administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting where acute care patients receive active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans based on patient responses and progress towards expected outcomes.
  2. Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  3. Act as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
  5. Serve as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician as needed.
  6. Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective care planning and management.
  7. Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
  8. Understand growth and development principles, assess patient data, and interpret information to meet age-specific needs.
  9. Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately to team members.
  10. Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medications, treatments, and safety measures.
  11. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
  12. Prioritize patient care following Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  13. Identify and resolve problems effectively.
  14. Delegate tasks based on patient needs and team member capabilities.
  15. Communicate patient condition and unit concerns to team members.
  16. Provide compassionate, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  17. Be aware of legal issues and patients' rights.
  18. Support onboarding and training of new staff and students.
  19. Maintain regular attendance per policies and standards.
  20. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

  1. Contribute to staff development, quality improvement, and organizational outcomes.
  2. Participate in or lead practice and performance improvement committees.
  3. Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching.
  4. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, practicing resource efficiency.

  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
  8. Provide patient care within the virtual hospital setting, utilizing TeleHealth technology for assessments and interventions, including virtual patient visits, symptom evaluation, and escalation of care.
  9. Collaborate with in-home clinical teams to support patient needs.
  10. Demonstrate age-appropriate care skills in virtual and in-home settings.
  11. Travel to patient homes as part of hospital-at-home services, delivering care, equipment, and medications as needed, excluding controlled substances and chemotherapy drugs.
Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Graduate of an approved nursing school.
  • Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and specific department.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Alabama RN license or valid multistate license.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for specific units; NRP for NICU.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for in-home care.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, or as approved by leadership.
  • At least 2 years of acute care nursing experience for Hospital Care at Home roles.
