Overview
Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, and providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families. Supervises assigned team members and utilizes evidence-based practice. Maintains a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams through effective communication, responding to requests, building rapport, and participating in team problem-solving. Contributes to department operations by maintaining equipment, completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques, and managing nursing supplies inventory.
Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities ( Essential Functions):
- Administers medications within the scope of practice and hospital policies.
- Assesses, evaluates, interprets, and documents patients' physical and mental status.
- Identifies patient care requirements by establishing rapport with patients and significant others; works to resolve patient problems using multidisciplinary teams.
- Promotes patient independence by establishing care goals, teaching self-care skills, and answering questions.
- Ensures quality care by adhering to standards, measuring outcomes, and making necessary adjustments.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment by complying with procedures and protocols, and protecting patients and staff.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures continuity through proper documentation and communication.
- Maintains professional knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, networking, and participating in societies.
- Completes annual competency and regulatory education.
- Contributes to team efforts, measuring success through patient satisfaction and quality metrics.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of medical equipment.
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to administer medications per policy.
- Ability to follow safety goals and interpret diagnostic results.
- Effective communication with all disciplines using SBAR.
- Multi-tasking ability.
- Courteous, compassionate attitude and support for the organization.
- Clinical skills including bedside manner, infection control, and nursing skills.
- ED/ICU: ACLS required; MED SURG: BLS required.
Education:
- Bachelor's in Nursing preferred; College Diploma in Nursing required.
- Licensed Registered Nurse.
- Certified in CPR.
