Job Summary:

Under general direction of the Surgical Services Director, the incumbent is assigned to provide clinical staff with education and training. This position works primarily with Operating Room, PACU, CSR, PAT, and Same Day Care staff but may provide training and education assistance or oversight of other departments and programs as assigned by the Director. This position will also be scheduled regular shifts on the primary clinical unit as a registered nurse. These hours may fluctuate based on education and unit needs.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Providing staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, and leader.
  • Evaluating skill, knowledge and performance levels for new and advancing staff.
  • Preparing staff for current practice and supports them in acquiring the knowledge and skills they need to competently provide care.
  • Ensuring that educational programs/activities are consistent with regulatory requirements and standard of care established by licensing and accrediting bodies and professional organizations.
  • Coordinating the development and tracking of educational/safety programs for the organization.
  • Providing ongoing evaluation of new staff in collaboration with clinical directors.
  • Leading the training program for the Operating Room, PACU, PAT, CSR, and Same Day Care
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
  • Preferred Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Masters of Science in Nursing.
  • Experience: Three (3) years current nursing experience.
    • Preference Experience: Experience in OR, PACU and/or Same Day Care is preferred
  • License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse License
  • Certification(s): Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.

Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.

External Hires: This position starts at $47.18 per hour. Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based upon relevant experience.

Bartlett Regional Hospital is licensed for a total of 57 inpatient beds and 16 residential substance-abuse treatment facility beds in the Rainforest Recovery Center. The hospital serves a 15,000-square-mile region in the northern part of Southeast Alaska. Approximately 55,000 people reside in our service area, with most communities inaccessible by road.
