Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital

The RN at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting, providing active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention care with assessment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans based on patient responses. Evaluate patient progress toward expected outcomes.
  2. Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  3. Act as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
  5. Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician.
  6. Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective planning and management.
  7. Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
  8. Understand growth and development principles, assess patient status, and interpret information to meet age-specific needs.
  9. Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
  10. Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medications, treatments, and safety measures, meeting all standards.
  11. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use specific to the unit/department.
  12. Prioritize patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  13. Identify and resolve problems effectively.
  14. Delegate tasks according to patient needs and team member capabilities.
  15. Communicate patient condition and unit concerns effectively to team members.
  16. Provide compassionate, therapeutic care environments for patients and families.
  17. Be aware of legal issues and patients' rights.
  18. Support the onboarding and transition of new team members and students with collaboration from education and nursing leadership.
  19. Maintain regular, punctual attendance per hospital policies and applicable laws.
  20. Comply with all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Graduate of an approved nursing school.
  • Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific department.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for specific areas; NRP for NICU.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for in-home nursing duties.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required unless approved by AVP or higher.
  • For Hospital Care at Home, 2 years of acute care nursing experience required.
