SECU is currently looking for qualified college students to join our 2025 Summer Internship Program. As an Intern, you will have significant learning opportunities on day-to-day projects in specific departments within SECU, while gaining exposure to the credit union and banking industry, as a whole. Our Summer Internship Program will run approximately 10 weeks, starting on Monday, June 2, 2025. The ideal candidate must be able to work 32+ hours a week during core hours of Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00 pm. Our internships are hybrid. Interns may need to come into the Linthicum, MD headquarters 1-2 time per week for work and also for new hire orientation and other intern cohort events.

We are seeking an intern for our Risk Management department. This intern will:
  • Support risk assessment enhancement
  • Assist in moving BSA risk assessment from Apogee to Nrisk.
  • Support ERM and Governance in Phase II of enhancing our information security risk assessment.
  • Convert risks and controls into data points in our new risk and control library and assign the risk and controls built within the library to the areas of the risk assessment outlined by Nrisk.
  • Review existing risks and controls in excel and build new risk and control library within Nrisk.
  • Connect newly tagged risks and controls within the libraries to the products, assets and processes currently built in the risk assessment.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior currently enrolled in an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Pursuing a degree with a focus in cybersecurity management and policy, information security, criminology, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical ability (take information and figure out the risk impact) and research ability (use internet to figure out where information security risk lies in our processes)
  • Likes to read as the job will require the ability to absorb a publication (Nist 800-53).
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite applications
  • Ability to work well both independently and on team
  • Highly motivated and energetic
  • Must have reliable transportation
Hourly rates range between $15 - 20 per hour depending on skill level and internship requirements.
