What you'll be doing:
You will actively support all construction activities across Veolia, to ensure all construction projects have sufficient Risk & Assurance (R&A) support from the design stage all the way through to completion. The key responsibilities will include:
- Attend and chair project Steering Committee meetings with key stakeholders, including internal and external Senior Directors discussing improvements to safety, programme, quality and costs
- Determine, in collaboration with the project team, the appropriate CDM roles for Veolia projects. This decision should consider the project's risk portfolio and the value each role (e.g., Principal Designer, Principal Contractor, Client) offers.
- Support projects, including being the named responsible person, on Temporary Works, CDM appointments, Building Safety Act appointments
- Offer improvements with a cost-effective, solution-focused approach
- Ensure the responsibility of safety for all contractors, operators and members of the public on and around the construction sites
- During Crisis Management, collaborate with site teams to achieve the desired outcome.
- Management of stakeholder expectations inline with the resource requirements of each project. Manage time and visits based on risk and understanding of the safety, programme and cost implications
- Liaise with external Principal Contractors, Principal Designers and Contractors on a daily basis to ensure they are working to Veolia standards.
The R&A advisor will be a national role where frequent travel and overnight stays are required. You will work closely with the Veolia Construction management teams, ensuring R&A are involved at the earliest stage of a project. The role will engage with the onsite construction team as well as the design teams and identify further improvements and provide solutions.
What we're looking for:
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- NEBOSH Construction certificate (desirable)
- Temporary Works Awareness
- Excavation Awareness
- Experienced in providing health and safety support to multiple construction sites and the ability to influence key stakeholders on site in a construction environment
- An individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide industry-leading customer service to all internal and external customers.
