Location: Hybrid: Remote in Texas and URJ Greene Family Camp, Bruceville, Texas

Organization: Union for Reform Judaism

Start Date: August 1, 2025

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 plus competitive benefits package

Level/Salary Grade: Subject Matter Expert (Intermediate) / B

The Role

The Union for Reform Judaism's Greene Family Camp seeks an experienced, motivated, and business-savvy Retreat Center Manager to lead the growth and operations of our year-round retreat center. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about hospitality, energized by relationship-building and sales, and committed to creating a welcoming space for a diverse range of guests, including People of Color, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and other underrepresented communities.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Camp Director, the Retreat Center Manager will:

Business management & Sales
  • Partner with camp leadership to set targets and track progress for growing the year-round rental and retreat business.
  • Proactively identify, cultivate, and close new client opportunities through outreach to potential clients and mission-aligned organizations.
  • Develop compelling proposals, lead site visits, conduct facility tours, and respond promptly to inquiries.
  • Represent the retreat center at community events and industry forums to increase visibility and interest.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and repeat clients.
  • Develop, manage, and report on the retreat center's budget, ensuring financial stewardship.
  • Track expenses, control costs, and optimize resources to meet financial goals.
  • Ensure compliance with URJ policies, risk management standards, and best practices.

Event Planning & Execution
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage retreat logistics from initial consultation to event execution.
  • Tailor event offerings to meet client needs and ensure an exceptional guest experience.
  • Collaborate with the Food Service Manager and Operations Team to deliver seamless service.
  • Hire, train, and supervise part-time event staff, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
  • Act as the onsite point of contact during retreats, addressing issues proactively and professionally.

Keys to Success (the must-haves)
  • Sales & Business Development: Ability to proactively identify, cultivate, and close new client opportunities to grow the retreat center's rental business.
  • Event & Operations Management: Strong skills in planning, coordinating, and executing retreats and special events with attention to detail and client customization.
  • Relationship Building & Client Engagement: Expertise in building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, and the community to drive loyalty and repeat business.
  • Financial & Budget Management: Competency in managing budgets, controlling costs, and making business decisions that align with revenue goals.
  • Inclusive Leadership and Hospitality: Commitment to creating a welcoming, accessible, and supportive environment for a diverse range of guests and staff.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Ability to work closely with a mission-driven team, balancing independence with strong collaboration skills across teams.
  • Self-Management & Accountability: Strong project management skills, with excellent organizational abilities, clear communication, and a proactive approach to meeting goals and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience in sales, business development, or hospitality roles.
  • Proven track record of growing revenue and closing sales in a hospitality, event, or retreat setting.
  • Experience leading and supervising part-time or seasonal staff teams preferred.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, event management platforms, or hospitality industry tools is a plus.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings during retreats; onsite housing is provided during these periods.
  • Able to lift 20 lbs. and maintain a demanding schedule, including after-hours response to guest needs.
  • Residence at camp during the summer camp season.
