The kitchen and living room of the University of Arizona, where everyone can eat, play, relax, and get involved. The Arizona Student Unions is looking for a talented Retail Supervisor to join our team.
Join our team as a Retail Supervisor and help lead the daily operations of a dynamic, service-focused retail location on campus. In this role, you'll assist with supervising a team of staff and student employees while ensuring excellent customer service and efficient store performance. Responsibilities include supporting the hiring process, providing coaching and feedback, and helping to maintain a positive and professional work environment in accordance with university policies.

The ideal candidate will bring knowledge of retail operations, e-commerce platforms, and inventory management, including ordering and receiving processes. Experience with food or gift merchandise is highly valued, along with a strong understanding of cost control and resource management. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and reports to the Manager/Assistant Director.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists manager on daily operations (front and back of house), including ordering, inventory control, labor and retail/food costs, budgeting, profit & loss development and labor.
  • Assists with merchandising and maintaining shop. Works with manager to identify upcoming holidays/events requiring gift baskets and relays guest requests.
  • Maintains e-commerce shop creating gift baskets with descriptions and selling prices. Schedules quantity on hand to allow for a sellout point.
  • Hires, trains staff and coordinates their work schedules. Communicates oral and written instructions to assigned staff. Monitors the work of assigned staff and notify the appropriate management personnel of the need for corrective action.
  • Notifies the appropriate personnel of process and/or quality problems, including, but not limited to, customer complaints.
  • Maintain excellent customer service by planning, developing and implementing new ideas. Lead and monitor effective customer service practices within the unit. Fields email and phone call inquiries regarding orders.
  • Completes required records and reports, including, but not limited to, those addressing inventory control and personnel. Ensures the maintenance, orders and receives materials and supplies via the Dining procurement and distribution system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to interpret instructions and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Experience in group leadership and knowledge of computerized inventory control systems.
  • Knowledge in scheduling and customer relations.
  • Proven experience in retail arena and e-commerce techniques and standards.
  • Knowledge with conditions associated with indoor food preparation, storage, and service areas, including exposure to mechanical parts, heat and cold.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
  • Must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and days.
