Title: Retail Sales Supervisor

Department: Retail Services

FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $23-$25 hourly

Statement of the job: The Retail Sales Supervisor, reporting to the Operations Manager, Retail Services, is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the LA Phil retail stores located in Walt Disney Concert Hall and Hollywood Bowl. This includes supervising staff, ensuring a high level of customer engagement and managing store operations. The Retail Supervisor works closely with the Retail Management team to enhance customer experience and maximize revenue.

Essential Functions:
  • Serve as the manager-on-duty, ensuring the stores run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Train, mentor and supervise store staff, ensuring excellent customer experience and product knowledge
  • Lead by example with strong leadership and coaching skills, demonstrating exceptional service
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings, coordinate break schedules and assign tasks to ensure a high level of customer experience
  • Maintain accountability for store operation, in compliance with LA Phil standards, policies and procedures
  • Support inventory management, including the receiving process, restocking and distribution efforts
  • Develop expert knowledge of the POS system and retail technologies to enhance operational efficiency
  • Proactively identify and present opportunities to improve sales, service quality, operational efficiency and overall productivity
  • Other duties may be assigned
Relationships

Reports To: Operations Manager, Retail Services

Interacts with: LA Phil Retail team and all LA Phil Staff

Minimum Requirements

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in specialty retail with focus on sales floor management
  • Proven ability to take initiative and make sound judgement calls in line with company policies
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities effectively
  • Strong communication skills with experience in providing constructive feedback and achieving positive customer service outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability, strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexible to work, evenings and weekends and holidays as required, a minimum of 3 shifts per week
  • Classical music background a plus but not required
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs., stand for 4+ hours, walk, pull weighted carts of 30+ lbs., and bend/stretch as needed
