Join our team and make a difference. Planet aid is seeking a Retail Production Driver. The Production Driver position is responsible for assisting the transportation of donated materials, as well as the loading, unloading, and processing of materials for sale on the retail floor.

The transportation responsibility includes driving a large commercial van and transporting material from Planet Aid's processing facility to the retail store. The employee will be responsible for collecting all donated items in and around designated donation bins and from any assigned home pickups. The driver will also be responsible for the proper maintenance of the sites, which includes cleaning and collecting and disposing of any unusable items in and around the bins. The percentage of time split between production and transportation duties is dependent on business needs and may vary with seasonal demand. Additional moving between tasks may require some flexibility in scheduling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other responsibilities may be assigned):

Production Duties:
  • Load and unload the vehicle with donated goods or salvage material.
  • Sort and prepare merchandise for shipment to the sales floor.
  • Assist in stock rotation and maintain racks in an organized and presentable manner.
  • Meet or exceed hourly production goals ensuring daily goals are met.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and stocked processing area along with a safe and secure facility.
  • Adhere to merchandising standards through product replenishment, display maintenance, colorization, sizing and inventory classification.
  • Operate forklift safely.
Transportation Duties:
  • Demonstrate safe/efficient driving skills.
  • Comply with Federal, State, and Local laws and guidelines.
  • Transport material between the Planet Aid processing facility to the retail store.
  • Service the donation bins designated on a route and any assigned home collections.
  • Provide good customer service and communicate verbally with customers in a professional manner.
  • Empty the donation bins, clean and collect eventual rubbish disposed of in and around the bins and donation locations.
  • Communicate with management regarding any problems and safety precautions taken.
  • Must be prepared and flexible to perform associated and related job functions that are not specifically identified in this job description

Requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is required to walk frequently, stand for a long period of time, and drive for a sustained period of time (within DOT standards). The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at one time. The employee is regularly required to push up to 300 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Degree and 1-year experience driving small commercial vehicles or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret maps and GPS technology. Complete paperwork accurately and completely, and understand the importance of attention to detail. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and employees. Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand basic English.
