The Role

  • In today's competitive grocery landscape, understanding consumer preferences and market dynamics is essential for sustained growth. The Retail Insights Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing robust analytics frameworks and methodologies to ensure our data insights are relevant and actionable for our client.
  • This role requires a blend of strategic thinking and technical expertise, focusing on identifying trends, uncovering opportunities for innovation, and delivering insights that support informed decision-making.
  • Ultimately, this role is about leading a team to unlock critical insights that drive business success and improve the shopping experience, ensuring our client remains a leader in the grocery sector.

The role will be Hybrid/North England, working up to 3 days per week as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of retail insights professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Act as a key advisor to the client's category teams on retail insights, ensuring insights are integrated into marketing, store operations, and category management strategies.
  • Set strategic priorities for the team and ensure alignment with Tecsa and client objectives.
  • Oversee the analysis of sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to generate actionable insights influencing commercial strategies.
  • Develop and implement analytics frameworks and methodologies to improve the reliability and relevance of insights generated.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, merchandising, and operations, to provide data-driven recommendations for product assortment, pricing, and promotions.
  • Present insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership to support business planning and execution.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to understand competitive positioning, consumer preferences, and emerging trends within the grocery sector.
  • Utilise advanced analytics and segmentation techniques to deliver tailored insights.
  • Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of retail strategies and initiatives.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on insights, trends, and performance metrics to guide strategic decision-making and improve overall business performance.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to promote a data-driven culture and support strategic initiatives.
  • Require 4+ years of experience in the grocery or consumer retail sectors in retail analytics, insights generation, or related fields, such as consulting environments or agencies (e.g., Dunnhumby, Circana, Nectar360, Quantium, SymphonyAI).
  • Proven experience in leading teams and managing projects successfully in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and data visualisation skills, with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, BI reporting tools, or similar platforms.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex data insights into actionable strategies for stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of retail metrics, consumer behaviour, and market dynamics.
