Position Overview:

We're searching for a passionate and dynamic Seafood Director to take full ownership of our seafood window and oyster bar in beautiful Bodega Bay. This isn't just a back-of-house role - it's a front-and-center leadership position for someone who knows their fish, loves hospitality, and thrives on guest interaction.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep expertise in seafood handling, a natural flair for presentation, and the personality to serve as the face of our seafood program - both in-person and across social media platforms. You'll set the tone for how guests experience our seafood, from curated whole fish offerings to perfectly shucked oysters delivered with a smile.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the seafood window and oyster bar with authority, energy, and attention to detail
  • Shuck oysters expertly and engage guests with hospitality, storytelling, and culinary insight
  • Curate daily seafood offerings, whole fish selections, and help drive seafood sales through creativity and thoughtful merchandising
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team on specials, seasonal dishes, and innovative seafood features
  • Champion our sustainable sourcing practices, and communicate them to guests with confidence and integrity
  • Be camera-ready - participate in video content, social media promos, or press features representing the seafood program
  • Train and mentor support staff on proper seafood handling, sanitation standards, and guest-facing service
  • Maintain a pristine, efficient, and visually engaging seafood station that reflects our brand standards
  • Build strong relationships with vendors, contributing to product selection and negotiating quality and price
  • Serve as an ambassador for the seafood program, both internally and to our guest community

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in seafood-focused restaurant roles (oyster bar, raw bar, seafood market, or coastal fine dining)
  • Proven leadership experience in high-volume food production or seafood service settings
  • Expert oyster shucking skills with consistent speed, safety, and presentation
  • Strong working knowledge of seafood species, sustainability practices, and sourcing strategies
  • Charismatic and guest-focused, with a passion for education and food storytelling
  • Comfortable being a visible brand voice, including on-camera appearances for promotional content
  • Skilled in whole fish butchery, display, and creative seafood merchandising
  • Experience training and managing staff in food safety, station organization, and guest engagement
  • Detail-oriented with excellent cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Knowledge of inventory management, product rotation, and vendor relationships
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment that encourages creativity and initiative

Why Join Us?

  • Be the driving force behind a guest-loved seafood program in a stunning coastal setting
  • Competitive compensation ($90k-$100k) plus tip opportunities and room for growth
  • Access to health benefits, professional development, and a collaborative team culture
  • Work in a fun, fast-paced, and visually dynamic environment with freedom to innovate
  • Opportunity to build and shape a program that's as much about experience as it is about food
