Position: Restaurant Manager - Mt. Horeb Reporting To: Director of Operations FLSA Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
We are looking for an experienced General Manager to lead our fantastic teams at Buck & Honey's Mount Horeb.
We know there is no shortage of restaurant GM roles out there, but we guarantee this one is different from any that you have seen before.
This is who we are and what we do:
Buck and Honey Birkinbine were one of Sun Prairie's best-known residents. They once owned and farmed the land where our first location sits today. Together they lived a life of service and philanthropy in the community and they were always well known to enjoy hosting good company at their home on Windsor Street. It is in their spirit that we present to you Buck & Honey's Restaurants.
Every effort is made at Buck & Honey's to make you feel as though you've dropped by an old friend's house. A friend that has an undeniable passion for service and prepares amazingly fresh food out of a scratch kitchen.
This is how we do it:
Since 2010, our mission has been to create an environment that is fun and welcoming. A place where the weight of the day just melts away. A place where you leave feeling better than when you came, and you can't wait to come back.
Our company core values:
Empathy
Inclusion
Fun
Community
And our company competencies; what we expect of ourselves and staff:
Be accountable
Facilitate fun
Guest focused
Food and drink quality
We are a company that cares about relationships. The time clock isn't the great measurement of value. Your results and the relationships you build are. If you are looking for "just another job" this is not the role for you.
Details about the position:
Who you are:
You are an experienced and effective Restaurant General Manager.
Teamwork and reliability are your north stars. You are passionate about creating supportive and collaborative teams and working environments within the restaurant. There is nothing you love more than making a restaurant run like a well oiled machine that feels like home to everyone who walks through the doors - guests, front of house, or back of house, we're all in this together.
You are someone who has a growth mindset and has the drive, desire, and sense of ownership to continue to build something truly special.
You pride yourself on being an effective communicator; an empathetic, supportive, and inclusive leader who at their core is humble and present.
You are able to thrive in a fast paced environment that sometimes requires you to effectively manage many moving plates (no pun intended) at once.
When you look at your day, you run it efficiently and effortlessly, owning your projects and delegating where necessary to ensure success and smooth sailing for the whole team.
You are an effective leader who loves to ask questions, and never settles for mediocrity.
You are a quick learner who is great at taking direction and executing, but also takes the ball and runs with it to create even better systems we might not have thought of.
In that same vein, you pride yourself on rolling up your sleeves and "mucking in" where necessary. We are looking for a leader who can both lead, and "do" when necessary.
You believe in the pursuit of excellence. Not just getting something done, but rising to the occasion and bringing your best to each interaction you have with the team and customers.
You are looking for a place to call home, not just your next paycheck.
Lastly, being a proactive problem solver is something that lights you up. There are few things that you can't solve and believe if there is a problem, you come with a solution as well.

Why you should be interested in this role:
We have put in support that most restaurants just don't have because we believe that we can go much further together than we can alone. We want you to be successful in this role and make this location great.
The kind of support that sets us apart is this:
TWO full time Facilities Managers to go around and fix anything that goes wrong so we can keep everything up and running. This means we are not plagued by ongoing maintenance issues - things get fixed in a timely matter so you don't have to stress.
You (the GM) are not on an island you have the support of one of the best leaders in the industry - our director of Operations, Aimee Anderson - who coincidentally won best business woman in Monona and has been in the industry for over 30 years.
We also have both a corporate chef and sous chef to support teams across locations
Full admin support team to run payroll and support you with any questions or needs you might have
Lastly, we believe in supporting you inside and outside of your role so we have a full time holistic therapist on retainer
Last but not least this role works hand in hand with the Chef, you and them are equals which allows each of you to focus on the back of house and front of house respectively.
Why this job is important:
This is a cross-functional role and you'll be an integral part of the operations of highest volume location.
You will be a valued addition to a team of 350; consisting of GMs, chefs, sous chefs, events team, and office team.
This role works closely with chefs, back of house team, and event/sales team at this location, as well as the leadership and managers of the other locations to maintain our core values, mission, and vision and integrity of the brand.
Bottom line, if you are passionate about the hospitality industry, want to help us continue to grow something great in Mount Horeb, and are looking for a long term place to call home, you could be who we have been searching for.
