Resident Director

Position Information

The Resident Director (RD) is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position and serves as a member of the Residence Education professional staff team. The RD is responsible for resident orientation to community living; resident counseling; policy enforcement and adjudication; day and night on-site crisis response; curricular approach to student engagement; student staff recruitment, selection, training and evaluation; housing management and special projects. The RD provides a variety of support services to the residential students and assists with the management of the housing program. The residential facilities include residence halls, apartments and family housing.

This is a four (4) year contract appointment with the possibility to be extended for one (1) additional year for a maximum total of five (5) years.

The full salary range for the Resident Director is $56,000.00 - $96,400.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $57,000 annually in addition to housing and meal plan compensation. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Education

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
• Master's degree. (Preferred)

Experience Requirements

• 1 - 2 years of relevant work experience in Student Life Programs, Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work and Education. (Required)

Minimum Requirements

Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization. Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills. Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
