Primary Objective of Reservations Agent Position

To make, confirm and cancel reservations for guests in a pleasant, professional and efficient manner, creating a positive impression and helping to increase hotel occupancy.

Responsibilities
  • Provides courteous and efficient service to customers according to Bartell Hotels standards
  • Understands room types and rates
  • Understands the importance of group codes, guest types, and source codes
  • Proficient in manipulating the hotel room inventory to meet and exceed customer expectations without loss to hotel
  • Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, registration of guests, and shopping, dining, entertainment and travel directions.
  • Keeps daily records of room availability, rates; "Set the house" (balancing and assigning rooms) daily; block rooms for VIPs daily; complete travel agent commissions and multiple brand updates daily
  • Enforce hotel and company credit policies.
  • Make, confirm and cancel reservations, usually over telephone, fax or other reservation system; track and bill "no-show" guests.
  • Use yield management polices to maximize revenue and occupancy.
  • May perform duties of a general clerical nature within the hotel.
  • Work closely with sales department to implement strategies to maximize room revenue.
  • Provides courteous, prompt, and accurate inter-hotel communications to staff and customers

Physical Demands & Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit/stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as well as frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. The employee is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions and the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
