Your Role and Responsibilities
This is for a 2025 summer internship with the following start dates: May - August or June - September for quarter system schools. We are currently seeking a motivated intern specializing in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) to join our team. This internship provides the opportunity to collaborate closely with researchers in the design, implementation, and evaluation of tools and frameworks that enhance the traceability and accountability of data practices essential for the responsible development of AI technologies. The successful candidate will focus on topics at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Critical Data Studies, and Responsible AI. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the design and execution of interviews, literature reviews, user studies, and experiments to critically examine the sociotechnical data practices involved in the implementation and deployment of AI systems.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. Applicants should be PhD & MS students pursuing graduate studies.
  2. Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Centered Computing, or a related field.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of HCI principles and research methodologies.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. Knowledge of critical data studies and their implications for technology and user interaction.
  2. Previous research experience or academic publications in relevant areas.
