Job Description:

SonoThera is seeking to hire a Research Associate to work in the Pharmacology and Vivarium Operations groups. We seek candidates who think critically and have a strong desire and ability to learn in vivo experimental techniques. This position requires performance at a high level in a fast-paced environment, independent work on assigned tasks, as well as collaborative work with small teams either supporting or performing mouse studies. The successful candidate must have some experience working in a vivarium, and be able to, or be willing to learn how to, perform experimental surgeries. A background in biology, some technical experience in in vivo experimentation, and a drive to help develop new treatments for sick people is necessary.

This is an on-site Monday-Friday position.

Job Summary:

Responsibilities will include working among two small teams to both support and perform mouse experiments. A clear understanding of how to work in a vivarium is required. Good record keeping and organizational skills are a must. Technical skills include laboratory animal handling, dosing, and takedowns, maintenance and care of post-surgery animals. If not already capable, this person will be trained how to perform mouse surgeries.

Technical Requirements and Skills (some, not all):

  • Familiarity with working in a vivarium
  • IV, IP, IM, and Subcutaneous dosing in mice
  • Catheter maintenance
  • Sterile technique
  • Jugular vein cannulation
  • Anesthesia
  • Blood sampling
  • Urine sampling
  • Euthanasia
  • Necropsy
  • Other duties as assigned

General Requirements:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences or a related field
  • 1 - 2 years' industry experience
  • Ability to work both independently and in small teams
  • Strong desire to learn new skills
  • Great team player
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong record-keeping and organizational skills

Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $95,000 to $110,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including, without limitation, individual education, experience, tenure, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data, including potential adjustments for geographic location.
