A growing biotech company in Gaithersburg is hiring a Research Associate with advanced cell culture skills (culturing stem cells) to join their research team of scientists. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently to collect data, analyze data, and present the resulting data and findings to the rest of the team.
Responsibilities
- Utilize advanced cell culture skills to establish, grow, maintain, and differentiate stem cells for research projects.
- Utilize a range of molecular techniques such as Western Blot, PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, and Flow Cytometry to run assays on the cell lines.
- Present research data to the team of scientists
- Troubleshoot experiment and instruments as issues arise and establish solutions
- Follow GLP and GMP standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Science
- 1 - 3 years of biotechnology or research lab experience including working with stem cells
- Advanced mammalian cell culture skills including cell line maintenance, passaging, propagation, differentiation, etc.
- Experience with a range of molecular assay techniques such as DNA extraction, RNA extraction, Western Blot, PCR, ELISA, protein characterization, etc.
- Experience with or exposure to Flow Cytometry (I.e. observing, trained on it, prepped samples for it, etc.). Experience in FlowJo or ImageJ is a Plus.
- Demonstrated experience presenting scientific data solo (I.e. masters thesis)
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot
- Strong communication, analytical and critical thinking skills
