Required:

Preferred:

Master's degree in business administration, social science, statistics, computer science, data science, information science, or related field.

• Two years of experience in researching, collecting, compiling, analyzing, and presenting educational data and reporting at the state, regional, or federal level.
• Experience of higher education student information systems (e.g., Banner).
• Proficiency with data querying and reporting tools (e.g., Argos, SQL, or similar).
• Experience using Power Bl, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools.
• Experience using Qualtrics or other on-line survey tools.
• Experience with IPEDS reporting
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.

Primary Responsibilities:

Function:Sul Ross State University seeks a highly skilled Research Analyst to support data reporting and analysis efforts critical to institutional compliance and decision-making. This role will be vital in ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and strategic use of institutional data while supporting the evolving needs of an innovative university. This position involves coordinating data submissions to THECB, IPEDS, and other external and internal entities, while also spearheading internal reporting and business intelligence efforts leveraging tools (e.g., Argos, Power Bl, SQL, Bl platforms, or similar). The ideal candidate will combine technical and analytical expertise and a commitment to fostering a data-informed culture that supports student success and institutional effectiveness.
Scope:This role will be collaborative in nature and requires strategic acumen, expertise in implementing best practice data governance approaches, and skills to manage and support change across functional areas within the institutions.

Essential Duties:The position works closely with the Director of Institutional Research in the collection, compilation, manipulation, analysis, presentation, and reporting of data used in reporting and institutional decision-making.Assisting in publishing reports and data visualizations. Non-Essential: Other duties as assigned.

This job may be performed remotely but will involve constant communication and possible travel to Sul Ross State University.
Office conditions; standard hours; exempt from overtime provisions.
The position is security sensitive.
Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.

Other Information:

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.
