The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon plays a crucial role in our operations by ensuring vital machinery remains operational at all times. As an RME Technician, your responsibilities include maintaining a variety of equipment and workspaces while adhering to Health and Safety standards. Your efforts help ensure colleague safety, minimize machine downtime, and improve equipment availability and quality.
Key job responsibilities
- Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on site equipment.
- Conduct reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse environment.
- Utilize modern tools to optimize equipment performance.
- Maintain compliance with all health and safety policies.
- Support the development and progression of on-site apprentices.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and implement best practices across EU sites.
A day in the life
Based on-site, RME Technicians respond swiftly to machinery issues, performing planned preventative maintenance to ensure safety and functionality. They respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose issues, implement solutions, and suggest long-term improvements. Collaboration with senior colleagues and external contractors is essential. The role involves working various shifts to provide 24/7 site support, enabling Amazon's rapid delivery commitments.
About the team
Amazon Logistics (AMZL) manages 'last mile' delivery in partnership with third-party providers, focusing on efficient product dispatch and innovative delivery solutions like Amazon Fresh, Prime Now, and Amazon Restaurants. The team includes 'under the roof' associates handling processing operations and 'on the road' personnel working with Amazon Flex delivery contractors. The team strives to enhance customer experience, reduce environmental impact, and innovate within the logistics industry.
Basic Qualifications
- Completed a full Engineering apprenticeship and/or hold a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- Relevant experience as a qualified engineer.
- Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.
- Proficiency in the local language, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred but not required:
- Experience with condition-based monitoring.
- Experience operating print and apply machines.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining conveyor or automation systems.
