SMX is seeking a Journeyman Release Train Engineer to help coordinate and support Agile release delivery across software development and DevSecOps teams for a federal customer. You'll contribute to organizing Agile ceremonies, tracking release readiness, and helping teams stay aligned as they build and deploy secure capabilities in AWS GovCloud IL5 environments. This position is a hybrid role supporting a Herndon, VA based team. Essential Duties: Support Agile Release Train (ART) coordination by facilitating team syncs, status tracking, and backlog alignment. Assist in planning and executing Program Increment (PI) events, including preparation and follow-up activities. Track release progress, dependencies, and risks across multiple Agile teams. Monitor and maintain dashboards and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to support visibility and performance reporting. Collaborate with scrum masters and product teams to ensure smooth sprint execution and alignment with delivery objectives. Help integrate DevSecOps and CI/CD practices into ART workflows and delivery tracking. Required Skills & Experience: BA/BS degree and 5+ years of experience in Agile software delivery environments. SAFe certification such as SAFe Practitioner or RTE. Hands-on experience working within Agile teams, preferably supporting program or release-level coordination. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, or similar Agile planning tools. Secret clearance. Desired Skills & Experience Exposure to scaled Agile frameworks such as SAFe. Experience working with DevSecOps teams or CI/CD toolchains. Understanding of RMF, ATO, or other federal compliance frameworks.
