We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented
Electric Relay Engineer with expertise in
Protection and Controls (P&C) systems and in-depth proficiency in
SEL relays and software. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of protection schemes used in substations and electric utility systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop protection and control schemes for substation and transmission/distribution projects.
- Configure and program SEL relays using SEL-5010, SEL-5030, SEL-5601, and AcSELerator QuickSet .
- Conduct relay coordination studies and fault analysis using tools such as ASPEN OneLiner or ETAP.
- Perform relay testing, calibration, and commissioning activities, including functional testing of protection schemes.
- Develop one-line diagrams, logic diagrams, and wiring schematics for P&C systems.
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, and utility standards for protection schemes.
- Maintain and update relay settings databases and documentation.
- Work closely with SCADA, communication, and system protection teams.
- Participate in project planning, estimating, and scheduling activities.
Qualifications Required:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in electric utility protection & control engineering.
- Strong experience with SEL relay protection systems, logic programming, and settings.
- Proficiency in relay test sets such as Doble, Omicron, or Megger.
- Familiarity with SCADA and communication protocols like DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus.
- Knowledge of substation automation and control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
