Job Title: Regulatory Accountant

Regulatory Accountant Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Accountant to oversee the financial reporting and compliance of our midstream regulated assets. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of regulatory filings, including quarterly and annual FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) reports, as well as maintaining compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory accounting, financial reporting, and ledger management.

Regulatory Accountant Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of quarterly and annual FERC reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and review monthly recurring journal entries related to midstream regulated assets.
  • Analyze and adjust FERC ledger entries as needed to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with FERC Uniform System of Accounts (USoA) and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper allocation and classification of costs in alignment with regulatory standards.
  • Assist with audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory bodies and external auditors.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory requirements and accounting policies, providing recommendations for implementation.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls related to regulatory accounting processes.
  • Support ad hoc projects and financial analysis related to regulatory matters.

Regulatory Accountant Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 5-7 years of experience in regulatory accounting, preferably within the midstream energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of FERC accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in GAAP and FERC Uniform System of Accounts (USoA).
  • Experience with ERP accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
