SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, performs non-invasive vascular tests to assist physicians in diagnosing disorders of the vascular system. Performs related clerical duties. Reports to Manager, Cardiovascular Diagnostics. Provides care to adult and geriatric patients.
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Associate's degree in Nursing or an allied health science (cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or the like or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required for extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology as well as specific vascular anatomy and physiology.
- Must be a Registered Vascular Technologist through the American Society of the Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
- Advanced knowledge of vascular diseases and the ability to apply vascular disease is required to determine the appropriateness of tests being requested.
- A level of interpersonal skills sufficient to explain procedures to patients and/or families ally apprehension obtain medical information and relay pertinent information to physicians is required.
- A level of knowledge of patient care techniques and methods generally acquired through twelve months related patient care experience is required. Knowledge of vascular testing and equipment operation, acquired through an additional eight- months non-invasive testing experience is also required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a normal patient care environment where there are no physical discomfort due to temperature, ,noise, and the like. Work required regular walking and standing, and pushing lifting and positioning of patient and equipment, Work requires on-call responsibilities.
