Job Description:

Accountable for performing and coordinating and scoring physiologic studies of sleep and sleep-related disorders. The incumbent provides care to patients via technology, therapeutic interventions, and coordination of care with other health care professionals. This job description is for Registered Respiratory Therapists working in Sleep Medicine only.

  • Shift Details: Full-time, 36 hours/week, Night Shifts, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Shifts from 7:00pm-7:30am, No Holidays

  • Additional Details: Hiring for a Registered Sleep Tech or a Registered Respiratory Therapist. New Graduates are Welcome



Essential Functions

  • Perform overnight Polysomnographic studies, using various modes of Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy interventions.
  • Perform Home Sleep Apnea Tests (HSAT).
  • Monitors and documents data related to patients undergoing physiologic studies.
  • Monitors and tracks equipment and supplies.
  • Completes record keeping and charting.
  • Ability to address and solve both technical and interpersonal problems.
  • Demonstrated communication skills
  • Ability to use computerized and mechanical equipment efficiently.
  • Ability to Score Studies according to AASM guidelines.
  • Obtain 10 Continuing Education Credits (CEC) related to sleep medicine annually.
  • This position provides supervision, mentorship, and orientation/ongoing education of the PSG Tech I and CPSGT.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of a NBRC approved Respiratory Therapist program. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • Current State License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT).
  • Specific certifications or skills as required by facility or patient population (i.e. PALS, ACLS, NRP).
  • BLS Certification or RQI for Healthcare Providers.
  • Obtain 10 Continuing Education Credits (CEC) related to respiratory care and/or sleep medicine annually. Additional respiratory and sleep specific credits may be required to maintain credentialing and comply with AASM requirements.
  • Current RPSGT or Sleep Disorders Specialty (SDS) credential must be obtained within 18 months of initial hire/transfer.
  • Available to work varying shifts, including night shift.

Preferred Qualifications

  • If working in Idaho, PSGT Permit issued by the Idaho State Board of Medicine
  • Clinical or patient care experience
  • Proven ability to supervise others
  • Available to work the night shift with demonstrated ability to do so
  • Demonstrated ability to address and solve both technical and interpersonal problems
  • Demonstrated communication skills


Physical Requirements:

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
  • May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$30.94 - $47.77
