The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for airway management services to all pediatric and neonatal patients. The Therapist includes administration of respiratory care procedures within the scope of practice under a physician's orders. This includes but is not limited to all types of oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, airway management with intubations and estuations, arterial punctures and analysis, phlebotomy, and mechanical ventilation of the neonate, infant, child, adolescent and adult patient. The Therapist plans, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness of treatment, with communication to the physician and health care providers. The Therapist understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values and management of patient care services.
