ThisPre-Admission Registered Nurse (RN)opportunity is full time on ourPre Admission Testing, offers full benefits and a convenient day shift schedule. Northern Nevada Medical Center is looking for a dynamicRegistered Nurse in Preadmission Testingplays a critical role in the patient's surgical journey, ensuring that all necessary pre-operative assessments, education, and documentation are completed accurately and efficiently before their scheduled procedures. This role requires excellent assessment skills, attention to detail, strong communication, and a patient-centered approach.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Comprehensive Assessment: Conducting thorough pre-operative assessments, including medical history reviews, medication reconciliation, and physical examinations (often via phone or in-person).
  • Diagnostic Coordination: Ordering and coordinating necessary diagnostic tests (e.g., blood work, EKGs, chest x-rays) and consultations with other specialists (e.g., cardiologists).
  • Patient Education: Educating patients and their families about the surgical process, including pre-operative instructions, post-operative care, pain management, and what to expect during recovery.
  • Risk Identification: Identifying and escalating any potential risks or complications that may impact the surgical procedure or anesthesia.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, Our APN, OR/office schedulers, and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care and a smooth transition through the surgical continuum.
  • Documentation:Accurately documenting all patient interactions, assessments, test results, and care plans in the electronic medical record.
  • Compliance:Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Nevada.
  • Minimum of one year of recent preferred experience in perioperative, preoperative, PACU, ambulatory, critical care, or emergency department settings is highly preferred due to the need for strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ACLS and PALS preferred
